A round-up of recent improvements across the site, covering notices, Chief Marshal logins, and some behind-the-scenes tidying.

For BMMC Members

• You'll now see occasional notice banners at the top of pages – things like scheduled maintenance or important event announcements. Dismiss one once you've read it, and it won't reappear; if there's more than one, they page through one at a time rather than stacking up.
• Some notices are aimed at everyone, some just at members, and some are attached to a specific event and will only show when you're looking at that event.
• If you're part of a joint membership, your linked family members now show correctly on your profile.

New Member Dashboard

When you log in, you'll now land on a new personal dashboard instead of the events list, showing you what matters most at a glance:

• Next Event – your next volunteering commitment, with a handy countdown
• Your Upcoming Registrations – every event you've signed up for, all in one place
• Your BMMC Profile – a quick snapshot of your membership details, with a direct link through to myClubhouse if you need to update anything
• Have You Considered? – a friendly nudge towards other events that still need volunteers

You can choose which cards you'd like to see, so the dashboard works the way that suits you. Clicking the BMMC logo will now also bring you straight back to your dashboard.

For BMMC Chief Marshals

• You can now log in exactly the same way as any member using your BMMC membership number and password; rather than needing a separate admin login. The system recognises you as a Chief Marshal automatically and gives you the extra access that comes with it, including the "Registrations" view for events you're assigned to.
• Registrations for an event are now only visible to the Chief Marshals actually assigned to that event, closing a gap where the page could previously be reached for any event via a direct link.

For External Chief Marshals

• Your login is unaffected – you continue to use the existing admin login exactly as before.
• You benefit from the same fix as BMMC Chief Marshals above: you can only view registrations for events you're actually assigned to.

For Admins and Regional Volunteering Coordinators

• A new notices system lets you publish announcements with a priority level, a start date and either an end date or "never expires," and choose who sees it; everyone, admins only, or members only, or attach a notice to a specific event.
• A new page shows exactly who has dismissed a given notice, so you can confirm an important event announcement actually reached people.
• Admin and Regional VolCo accounts can now add and edit notices themselves.
• Event pages load noticeably faster: An event's details only load when you expand it, and the registration page shows a quick summary immediately while the full list loads in the background.
• Deactivating an admin account now properly locks them out immediately, rather than just hiding them from the list while their old login still worked.

Behind the Scenes

Alongside the above, a number of old or unused pages, links and database fields left over from the previous system have been quietly removed, and a maintenance-mode banner now warns admins when the site is running in maintenance mode. This is all part of a gradual move to make myClubhouse the single, authoritative source for membership information, done in small, carefully tested steps so day-to-day use of the site isn't disrupted along the way.

We've moved the volunteering system to some new website hosting which provides some more modern infrastructure and slightly better performance.

• Added links to various venues throughout the system. Hover over the venue logo within an event and click the button link.

This is a completely new BMMC volunteering system, rewritten from scratch using newer technology. Whilst the overall system may look the same, underneath is an entirely new system architecture, database and security.

What has been improved?
