Remember
Members are reminded that when volunteering for an event, that they are declaring themselves both physically and mentally capable of undertaking their chosen role. How to volunteer for an event
Volunteering for an event is easy:
- Use the events filter at the top of the main events table to help you find the required events more easily. You can choose from category, region or venue, to only show the events of interest in the table below.
- To see more details about an event, click on the button in the table, and it will expand, showing you all the details of the event.
- If you have already volunteered for an event, the volunteer button will be replaced by the role you have chosen for that event or cancelled if you can no longer make the event. Clicking on the button will still show you the event details.
- To volunteer for an event, use the options (in the large blue panel) to choose the role that you wish to
volunteer for, confirm your consent, then click the “volunteer for event” button. That's it.
Note: Only the roles applicable to your grades will be displayed.
Volunteering Closed
- If you are trying to volunteer for an event where volunteering has been closed (because it is near the actual event date), you will need to contact the chief marshal to see if you can still volunteer. Dates for when an event will be closed for registration will vary depending upon the organising club.
Information Only Events
- Some events are provided within the BMMC Volunteering system for information only, and you will not be able to volunteer online. For these types of events, additional instructions will be provided. You will usually need to contact the chief marshal to volunteer. How you volunteer for these events will vary depending upon the organising club, so please read the instructions carefully.
Volunteering Overview
- Selection: For most events there is no selection process, and you are automatically accepted unless detailed. Notable exceptions are the F1 Grand Prix and all Goodwood events.
- Tickets: You will usually receive your tickets by email or occasionally by post for special events. If you have not received any communication by the Wednesday preceding the event, it would be advisable to contact the Chief Marshal for the event. Please do not contact them before this, as organising clubs have to provide the tickets to the chief marshal and only do so a few days before the event.
- Closing Date: Each event has a specific closing date for registration, when names will be forwarded to the Chief Marshal and/or organising club. If you wish to register after the closing date, you must contact the Chief Marshal for the event.
- Your Role: Only register for a role that is appropriate to your current grade or training. If you wish to have an upgrade assessment or have any other specific requirements, you should register in the normal way AND also contact the Chief Marshal (preferably via email) with your request, unless you are aware a venue has an alternative contact to whom your request should be directed.
- Cadets: Cadet marshals (under 18) should check both the Motorsport UK and organising club policies before registering to ensure they are eligible for the role.
- Multi Day: For multi-day events it is normally preferable to register for the same role each day.
